Parables that are in the bible

There are many parables in the New Testament and all of them can be found in the books of the gospels. Jesus used parables to compare and to denote a fictitious narrative invented way for the purpose of conveying the truth in a less offensive form rather than by direct assertion and to express it in a figurative or poetical form. This page will help every new Christian find the parables by the book and the verse that they are found in your bible. Below is a list of the parables that Jesus taught about while he was on earth.

1) The parable of the speck and the log. The lesson taught here was to do not presume to judge others. (Matthew 7:1-6) (Luke 6:47-49)

2) The parable of the two debtors. The lesson taught here a love to Christ proportioned to Grace received. (Luke 7:41)

3) The parable of the unclean spirit. The lesson taught here is the hardening power of unbelief. (Matthew 12:43-45) (Luke 11:24-26)

4) The parable of the two debtors. The lesson we should learn here is our love is in proportion to our sense of forgiveness. (Luke 7:36-50)

5) The barren fig tree. The lesson we should learn here is long-suffering mercy will be follow by strict justice. (Luke 13:6-9)

6) The wheat and the tares. The lesson we should learn here is the severance of good and evil. (Matthew 13:24-30)

7) The mustard seed. The lesson we should learn here is the wonderful growth of Christ’s church. (Matthew 13:31-32) (Mark 4:26-29)

8) The leaven hidden in the meal. The lesson learned here is the church spreading through the world. (Matthew 13:33) (Luke 13:20-21)

9) The dragnet. The church gathers in many, besides the sinner, who will at the great day be cast out. (Matthew 13:47-50)

10) The parable of the lost sheep. The lesson we should learn here is it our duty to seek and reclaim backsliders. (Matthew 18:12-14)

11) The debtor forgiven a large debt of a servant who owed him a small debt. We must forgive if we would forgiven. (Matthew 18:23-35)

12) The Good Samaritan. The lesson here is the obligation of a Christians love to our neighbor. (Luke 10:25-37)

13) The unclean spirit returning. The lesson taught here is the hardening of unbelief or the state of the backslider. (Matthew 12:43-45) (Luke 11:24-26)

14) The Good Shepherd. The lesson here is the wonderful love of Christ. I know my sheep; I lay down my life for the sheep. (John 10:1-18)

15) The watchful servants. The lesson we should learn here is the necessity for constant watchfulness. (Luke 12:35-40)

16) The door will shut. The lesson here is if we expect to enter the door, we must walk in the straight path. (Luke 13:23-30)

17) The great supper. The lesson we should learn here is that God is no respecter of persons. (Luke 14:16-24)

18) The counting the cost before building a tower. Whosoever doth not bear his cross and come after me cannot be my disciples. (Luke 14:25-30)

19) The second parable of the lost sheep. The joy in Heaven, over one sinner that repents. (Luke 15:3-10)

20) The piece of money lost and found. The lesson here is that the Lord rejoices over a repentant sinner. (Luke 15:8-10)

21) The prodigal son. The lesson we should learn here is Christ is always willing to forgive. (Luke 15:11-32)

22) The unjust steward. The lesson we should learn here is that you cannot serve God and mammon. (Luke 16:1-14)

23) The rich man and Lazarus. The lesson here is to not trust in worldly possessions but in God. (Luke 16:19-31)

24) The unjust judge, and the importunate widow. The lesson here is the duty of constant prayer. (Luke 18:1-8)

25) The Pharisee and the Publican. A humble prayer will be answered while that of the self-righteous will not. (Luke 18:9-14)

26) The laborers hired for the vineyard. The first shall be last, and the last shall be first, for many may be called but few chosen. (Matthew 20:1-16)

27) The nobleman and his ten servants. The lesson here is our strict accountability for such talents as God has committed to us. (Luke 19:11-27)

28) The two sons. The lesson we should learn here is that obedience is better than words. (Matthew 21:28-32)

29) The vineyard let to the husbandmen. This lesson is the rejection of Christ by the Jews. (Matthew 21:33-46)

30) The King’s marriage feast for his son. The wedding garment. The lesson here is the need of righteousness. (Matthew 22:1-14)

31) The fig tree leafing. The lesson here is that it is an indication of the second coming of Christ. (Matthew 24:32-33) (Mark 13:28-29)

32) The man taking a long journey. The lesson here is that we must watch for our Lord’s coming. (Mark 13:34-37)

33) The faithful and the evil servant. The lesson here is that we must watch and live as though expecting him anytime. (Matthew 24:42-51)

34) The wise and the foolish virgins. The lesson here is that we must be constantly prepared for his coming. (Matthew 25:1-13)

35) The ten talents. The lesson we should learn here is that the use of our advantages. (Matthew 25:14-30)

36) The sheep and the goats. The lesson taught here is the separation of the good and bad at the final judgment. (Matthew 25:31-46)

37) The marriage supper. The lesson taught here is that there will be a rejection of unbelievers. (Matthew 22:2-9) (Luke 14:16-23)
