Book of Revelation – Bible Study – Chapter 13

The Book of Revelation” Chapter 13”

Introduction: This week we will continue our Bible Study lessons in chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation. Today we will study the rise and reign of the Beast and the False Prophet in chapter thirteen. And he shall speak great words against the Most High, and shall wear out the Saints of the Most High. (Daniel 7:25) And the King shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself above every god, and shall speak things against the God of gods. (Daniel 11:36) Now that man of sin, the son of perdition, who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God; shewing himself that he is God. Now even him whose coming is after the working of Satan, with all power and signs and lying wonders. (II Thessalonians 2:3-4) Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is the Antichrist that denieth the Father and the Son. (I John 2:22)

Revelation Chapter 13:

(The Rise and Reign of the Beast and the False Prophet)

I) (The Beast out of the Sea) (Revelation 13:1-10)

1) (Read) (Chapter 13:1); And I stood upon the sand of the sea,  and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. (KJV)

1)Explanation: (Chapter 13:1); And I stood upon the sand of the sea. (Now this is not a body of water, but a sea of people). And saw a beast rise up out of the sea. (Now this pertains to the Antichrist. The Antichrist is now empowered by Satan as no other man ever has been). Now the beast having seven heads and ten horns. (The seven heads and the ten horns represented seven Empires that have greatly persecuted Israel in the past, with the “ten horns” are actually the seventh head; and the “ten horns” are representing ten nations that are yet to in the future). And upon his horns were ten crowns. (Now the horns that are crowned show that these ten nations have now come to power, and will use that power to help the Antichrist. Now they will be located in the Middle East and in parts of Europe and possibly in North Africa. Now remember, all this being in the old Roman Empire territory; (Daniel 7:7-8). And upon his heads the name of blasphemy. Now Satan controls these Empires, and will control the ten nations, and the name of “blasphemy” is just what it means.

1) Comments: (Chapter 13:1); This beast was initially identified with Rome, because the Roman Empire, in its early days, encouraged an evil lifestyle, to persecute believers, and opposed God and his followers. But the beast also symbolizes the Antichrist and Satan, but someone under Satan’s power and control. This Antichrist looks like a combination of the four beasts that Daniel saw centuries earlier in a vision. (Daniel 7). Now the dragon in (Revelation 13:2) is in opposition to God, so the beast from the sea is against Jesus Christ and may be seen as Satan’s false Messiah. Now the early Roman Empire was strong and also was the Antichrist; but many other individual powers throughout history have been Anti-Christ. Now many Christians believe that Satan’s evil will culminate in a final Antichrist, who will focus all his powers of evil against Jesus Christ and His followers. A Beast came out of the Sea in (Revelation 17:7-17). Here John is given the “mystery” and (Interpretation) of the Beast out of the sea. In (Revelation 17:15) the sea is called the Waters, which are the peoples and multitudes, and nations, and tongues, (these are the Gentile nations). He rises from the Roman Empire. Since he is a ruler of the people who destroyed Jerusalem (Daniel 9:26).

2) (Read) (Chapter 13:2); and the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. (KJV)

2) Explanation: (Chapter 13:2); And John said the beast which I saw in verse two. (Now this represents the fallen Angel who will be let out of the bottomless pit to help the Antichrist in (Revelation 11:7). Now both the fallen Angel and the Antichrist are referred to as a “Beast” but they are two different beings). Also it was like unto a leopard. (Now this fallen Angel will help the Antichrist to speedily conquer. This event is described in the book of Daniel also. (Daniel 7:6), And his feet were as the feet of a bear. (Now this carries the characteristics of the ancient Medo-Persian Empire, which is ferociousness). And his mouth as the mouth of a lion. (Now the mouth of a lion portrays the finesse, and grandeur of the Babylonian Empire). And the dragon (Satan) gave him his power to (the Antichrist). Here his power, and his seat, and his great authority was giving to him. (Now the Antichrist will have Satan helping him as well as this powerful fallen Angel, and there will be a host of other fallen Angels and demon spirits also).

2) Comments: (Chapter 13:2); Now in (Daniel 7:4-6) the three animals; which are 1) a lion, 2) a bear, and 3) a leopard which are seen here in verse two. These animals are symbols of the empire which preceded the Roman Empire. Now they combined characteristics and qualities of the first three; 1) Babylonian voracity, 2) Persian tenacity, and 3) Macedonian swiftness.

2) Extra Comments: In verse two: The Beast was like a Leopard, a Bear, and a Lion. The body being that of a Leopard, with the feet of a Bear, and the mouth of a Lion is to show that the revived Roman Empire in its last stage will include the characteristics of the first “Three Wild Beast” of Daniel’s vision in (Daniel chapter 7). Daniel’s vision begins with the (Lion) (Babylon) because he is looking forward to these kingdoms which shall come, while John’s vision looks back to these kingdoms and how they relate to the final kingdom. The (Leopard) was Daniel’s third beast (Daniel 7:6), which represents Greece. The Leopard describes the speed that the kingdom was set up under Alexander the Great. The (Bear) was Daniel’s second beast (Daniel 7:5), which represents the Medo-Persian Kingdom. The Bear describes the strength of the Medes and Persians. The Lion was Daniel’s first Beast (Daniel 7:4), which represents Babylon. The Lion describes the greatest kingdom under Nebuchadnezzar. John’s vision of the Beast in Revelation is a combination of Daniel’s three beasts, which was replaced by the fourth beast (Rome) (Daniel 7:7-8); (Daniel 8:17-27); (Daniel 8:3-25).  These scriptures reveal a Revived Roman Empire of Ten Kings, under the leadership of the Beast.

3) (Read) (Chapter 13:3); and I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. (KJV)

3)  Explanation: (Chapter 13:3); And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death. (Now this doesn’t refer to the Antichrist, but rather to one of the Empires of the past, which did persecuted Israel. But it pertains to the Grecian Empire under Alexander the Great, and in reality speaks of the same fallen Angel helping Alexander the Great. But when Alexander died, this fallen Angel who helped him to conquer so speedily was locked away in the bottomless pit, (Daniel 7:6). And his deadly wound was healed. (Now this refers to the fact that this fallen Angel will be released out of the bottomless pit to aid and help the Antichrist, (Revelation chapter seventeen). Now it is doubtful that the Antichrist will know or realize the source of his power, but will take all the credit unto himself). And all the world wondered after the beast. (Now this refers to the part of the world he has conquered, but with the entirety of the world definitely paying him homage as he now seems to exude superhuman ability.

3) Comments: (Chapter 13:3); One of his (Beast) heads as it were wounded to death. The Beast’s heads are Kings or Kingdoms in (Revelation 17:9-10). This head is probably Rome which died in the fifth century, and will be revived or brought to life by the Anti-Christ. Who is this Beast? He is a King of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences shall stand up. And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hands and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many; and which he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hands (Daniel 8:23-25). He (Beast) shall continue forty and two months and then the Beast breaks his covenant with the Jews in the midst of the seven years (Daniel 9:27). Then he takes complete control of the Kingdom and sits himself in the Temple, and demands all to worship him as God. (Daniel 11:36-37); (II Thessalonians 2:4); Now the length of this reign is described as 3 1/2 years or 42 months, and 1260 days.

4) (Read) (Chapter 13:4); And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? (KJV)

4) Explanation: (Chapter 13:4); And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast. (Now this refers to the fact that men worship power). And they worshipped the beast, saying. Who is like unto the beast? Who is able to make war with him? (Now this proclaims the means by which power is worshiped).

4) Comments: (Chapter 13:4); They shall worship him (Beast) whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world According to (Revelation 13:15-17). Now everyone that did not worship the Beast should be killed. This does not mean that everyone that did not worship the beast was killed but that he should be killed. No King or Kingdom has absolute rule over its subjects. Some people escape this judgment by fleeing into the mountains and the wilderness (Matthew 24:15-22); (Revelation 12:14). Only those that are believers are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life (Philippians 4:3); (Revelation 17:8); and (Revelation 21:27). Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the Lake of Fire (Revelation 20:15). The term “from the foundation of the world” refers to the Lamb slain, not to the book of life. In (Revelation 17:8), the book of life is from the foundation of the world, but the names are written in time when the Believer receives Christ as his savior – (Luke 10:20); (Hebrews 12:23); (Philippians 4:3). Salvation was provided for in Eternity, but must be received in time by faith.

4) Extra Comments: (Chapter 13:4); Who is like the Beast? He is a King of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences shall stand up. And his power-shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonderfully, and shall prosper, and practice, and shall destroy the mighty and the holy people. And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hands and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many. He shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand in (Daniel 8:23-25).

5) (Read) (Chapter 13:5); and there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (KJV)

5) Explanation: (Chapter 13:5); And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies. (Now powerful claims will be made, with the “Name of Jesus being ridiculed”. And power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. (Now the last three and one half years of the Great Tribulation; and despite his power, our Lord Jesus Christ still controls the time frames, and all the events, that will ever happen in Heaven and Earth no matter what is said or done).

5) Comments: (Chapter 13:5); Now there was given to him a mouth to speak great things and blasphemies. But the power given to the beast will be limited by God. Our God (Jehovah) will allow the beast to exercise authority only for a short time. Now even while the beast is in power, Our God will always be in control. (Read) (Revelation 11:15); and (Revelation 12:10-12)

5) Extra-Comments: And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great Things. There was given to the rulers of the Latin empire, who are the mouth of the beast. (And particularly the Roman emperors of Germany), power to assume great and pompous titles, indicative of their mighty sway over many subjugated countries. Also to utter; against their opponents; the most terrible edicts. And blasphemy is the system of worship supported by the beast as there will be occasion to show presently. And power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. As these forty-two months are prophetic, they must mean so many years as there are days contained in them; 1260, each month containing 30 days. The beast, therefore, will continue in existence for a period of time until he is terminated.

6) (Read) (Chapter 13:6); And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. (KJV)

6) Explanation: (Chapter 13:6); And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name. (Now he will use all the power of print, radio, television, and computers to demean the God of the Bible. And it will be a regimen of blasphemy on a worldwide basis, such as the world has never known before). Also his tabernacle, which refers to Heaven.  And also to them that dwell in heaven. (Now even though it refers to all believers in Heaven, and also it refers to the 144,000 Jews who have been raptured and are now in Heaven).

6) Comments: (Chapter 13:6); Now when he opened his mouth the Antichrist blasphemy against God. (II Thessalonians 2:4); He will gain some type of worldwide authority for forty-two months in the last half of the Tribulation.  (Read) (Revelation 13:7); Now the unbelievers of this world will be deceived into believing that the Beast is a god. (II Thessalonians 2:4-11); Now, “only those whose names that are written in the book of life, will refuse to worship the Beast”. Now this Beast will persecute the Saints of God, and exercise his power throughout the world.

7) (Read) (Chapter 13:7); and it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindred’s, and tongues, and nations. (KJV)

7) Explanation: (Chapter 13:7); And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. (Now this will include all Believers all over the world; as well, as the Text implies by the word “overcome” that the Lord Jesus Christ will allow to happen). And power was given him over all kindred’s, and tongues, and nations. (Now this doesn’t include the entirety of the world, but rather the area over which he has control, and that is basically the area of the old Roman Empire).

7) Comments: (Chapter 13:7); The beast will conquer God’s people and rule over them, but he will not be able to harm them spiritually. And power was given to him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. As the book of the Revelation is a prophecy of all that should come upon the Christian world till the end of time, all kindreds, and tongues, and nations, must imply the whole Christian world. That the Latin empire in the course of its reign has had the extensive power here spoken of, is evident from history. It is well known that the profession of Christianity was chiefly confined within the limits of the Greek and Latin empires, till the period of the Reformation. By means of the crusades the Latins extended their empire over several provinces of the Greeks. In 1097 Baldwin extended his conquests over the hills of Armenia and the plain of Mesopotamia, and founded the first principality of the Franks or Latins, which subsisted fifty-four years, beyond the Euphrates. In 1204 the Greeks were expelled from Constantinople by the Latins, who set up an empire there which continued about fifty-seven years. The total overthrow of the Latin states in the east soon followed the recovery of Constantinople by the Greeks; and in 1291 the Latin empire in the east was entirely dissolved.

8) (Read) (Chapter 13:8); And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (KJV)

8) Explanation: (Chapter 13:8); And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him. (Now first of all, we’re speaking here of worship, not the dominion of nations; as well, the word “all” does not refer to every single human being.

But rather about people from all nations of the world, and however many that number might be). Whose names are not written in the book of life?  (This refers to the fact that Believers will not worship the Antichrist). The Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Now this tells us that the only way one’s name can be placed in the Book of Life is by acceptance of our Lord Jesus Christ as one’s Lord and Savior, and what Jesus did for us at the Cross. Also the phrase, “(From the foundation of the world”. And that proclaims the fact that the Doctrine of “Jesus Christ and Him being Crucified” is the “Foundation Doctrine of all Doctrines”). In other words, every Doctrine from the Bible must be built on the foundation of the Cross of Jesus Christ, and otherwise it is bogus and there is no true in it).

8) Comments: (Chapter 13:8); Now the beast will conquer God’s people and rule over them, but he will not be able to harm them spiritually. Now he will establish worldwide dominance and demand that everyone worship him. Now many will worship him, but not the true believers in Christ. Now refusal to worship the beast will result in temporary suffering for God’s people, but they will be rewarded with eternal life in the end.

9) (Read) (Chapter 13:9); If any man have an ear, let him hear. (KJV)

9) Explanation: (Chapter 13:9); If any man have an ear, let him hear. (Now this refers to the ability to hear spiritually and to hear properly in this manner; and Jesus Christ used the term many times in the New Testament). (Read) (Matthew 11:15); (Matthew 13:9); (Matthew 13:43); and (Mark 4:9),

9) Comments: (Chapter 13:9); Now “If any man have an ear, let him hear,” this phrase is used many times in the Bible. Now it seems to imply that what has just been said has a wider context, or a significant present application. Now this statement is not just for future reference. Therefore, widespread of spiritual delusion and blasphemy, as well as persecution and martyrdom, should not surprise the believers at any point in history.

10) (Read) (Chapter 13:10); He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (KJV)

10) Explanation: (Chapter 13:10); He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity. (Now this could be translated, “He who is destined to captivity will go into captivity”.  Now this refers to the fact that those who will not hear the Word of the Lord, but rather hear the word of the Antichrist, and they are guaranteed the worst type of spiritual bondage). He that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. (This pertains to the nations of the world that will follow the Antichrist in his quest for world domination and power).

Now the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ will bring swift and sure Judgment upon them). Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. (Now this refers basically to Israel, and that her Redemption is very near, which will take place at the Second Coming).

10) Comments: (Chapter 13:10); Now in this time of persecution, just being faithful to Jesus Christ could bring imprisonment and even execution. Now some believers will be hurt or killed. But all that the beast and his followers will be able to do to these believers is harm them physically; but no spiritual harm will come to those whose Faith in God is sincere. Now I tell you that all believers will enter God’s presence will be perfect and purified by the blood of the Lamb in (Revelation 7:9-17). Now the times of great persecution that John saw will provide an opportunity for all believers to exercise patient, and endurance and faithfulness. Now the tough times that we face right now are also opportunities for a spiritual growth. Now I say to you; don’t fall into Satan’s trap and turn away from God when the hard times come’ instead, just use those tough times as opportunities for testifying for our Lord and Savior. (Philippians 1:28-29)

II) (The Beast out of the Land)

(The number of a man 666) (Revelation 13:11-18)

11) (Read) (Chapter 13:11); and I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. (KJV)

11) Explanation: (Chapter 13:11); And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth. (Now this refers to the false prophet; and by the use of the word “Earth.” (Now the Holy Spirit is telling us that this man is not from above, but rather from the masses of people). And he had two horns like a lamb, (Now he has a lamb-like appearance which is intended to deceive you). And he spoke as a dragon. (Now this refers to the fact that he will be greatly anointed by the Devil; and in a sense, the Antichrist will claim to be Jesus Christ, while the false prophet will try to fill the role of the Holy Spirit).

11) Comments: (Chapter 13:11); Another Beast came out of the Earth. This Beast is called the “FALSE PROPHET” in (Revelation 16:13), (Revelation 19:20), (Revelation 20:10). This beast comes out of the earth instead of the sea, and if the sea represents the Gentile nations then the earth must represent the Jews. He the (second Beast) had two horns like a lamb and spoke as a dragon. The second Beast or false prophet is a religious ruler. Jesus Christ is described in (Revelation 5:6) as a Lamb with Seven Horns, having the Seven Spirits of God while this religious ruler has only Two Horns and speaking as the Dragon.

12) (Read) (Chapter 13:12); and he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. (KJV)

12) Explanation: (Chapter 13:12); And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him. (Now the power or authority exercised by the false prophet will come directly from Satan, and not through the Antichrist). And causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast. (Now the false prophet is promoting Earth and not Heaven, this means that he will promise Heaven here on Earth. Now the promises he makes will be tied to the “worship” that will be given to the Antichrist).  Also whose deadly wound was healed. (This does not refer to an assassination attempt or even to the Antichrist being killed and raised from the dead as some teach). But rather that the powerful fallen Angel, who helped bring the Grecian Empire into power under Alexander the Great and has been locked up for many centuries. And now has been loosed and is helping the Antichrist. Now this “deadly wound being healed” speaks of his release from the bottomless pit. (Daniel 7:6); (Revelation 11:7); and (Revelation 13:2),

12) Comments: (Chapter 13:12); Now he will exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. Now this False Prophet will be the second highest ranking world leader during the Tribulation. Now this False Prophet will force the whole world to worship the Antichrist.

13) (Read) (Chapter 13:13); and he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, (KJV)

13) Explanation: (Chapter 13:13); And he (the false prophet) doeth great wonders, (signs), so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men. (Now the false prophet will literally make fire come down from Heaven; and it will not be a trick, but he will do this through the power of Satan).

13) Comments: (Chapter 13:13); Now he will make fire come down from Heaven. The False Prophet has supernatural powers so that he is able to call fire down from Heaven in order to deceive those who dwell on the earth. Now all his power exceeds that of the false prophets of Baal, which they were unable to call fire down in the days of Elijah in (I Kings 18:36-38). Now many will believe on the Antichrist during that time because the False Prophet possesses this power.

14) (Read) (Chapter 13:14); And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. (KJV)

14) Explanation: (Chapter 13:14); And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; (Now this refers to the efforts of the false prophet to elevate the Antichrist). The word “beast” is used interchangeably between the Antichrist, now the false prophet, and the fallen Angel; or whatever they call themselves, but the Holy Spirit refers to them as “beasts”). Here it was said to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast. (Now this is an image for the purpose of worship, and will probably be set up in the Temple built by the Jews in Jerusalem). And had been the wound by a sword, and did live. (Now this refers to the Antichrist that somehow being wounded, and this wound should have taken his life; but he lives and is construed as a miracle. And with the credit probably going to the false prophet; but this is not the “wound” of verse three but was just on “one of his heads,” which had to do with an (Empire of the Grecian Empire). (And not an individual, but this wound of verse fourteen pertains to an individual, in this case was the Antichrist).

14) Comments: (Chapter 13:14); He (False Prophet) deceived them by miracles. The False Prophet imitates Elijah with his miracles and claims that the first Beast is the Christ. (Malachi 4:5-6); (II Kings 1:10-14); (I Kings 18:36-39). Everything that God does: (Satan does also). But remember Satan is a fake and a counterfeiter.” There is one thing that Satan can never do for you. And that is; he can never give anyone eternal life which can only be given by our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior because He died on the Cross for all mankind.

15) (Read) (Chapter 13:15); And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.  (KJV)

15) Explanation: (Chapter 13:15); And he (the false prophet); had power to give life unto the image of the beast. (Now this should have been translated, “For he had power to give a spirit unto the image of the beast”. But that is the actual word used in the Greek; to give life is solely the prerogative of the Godhead), that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. (Now by the power of darkness, this image will be able to somehow speak, and will, pronounce the sentence of death upon all who will not worship the image of the beast; and this will probably be in Jerusalem)!

15) Comments: (Chapter 13:15); He (False Prophet) makes an image to the beast (Anti-Christ) and gave life unto the image that it should speak. This “Image” reminds us of the “Golden Image” that Nebuchadnezzar commanded the people to bow down and worship under penalty of being cast into a “Burning Fiery Furnace” in (Daniel 3:1-30).

Now this image worship is forbidden by the Jews and this image is supposed by some to be put in the Holy Place in the Temple, which becomes the “Abomination of the Desolation”. (Read); (Matthew 24:15); (Daniel 9:27). He (False Prophet) gave the image life (Greek Pneuma; air or breath). This does not mean that the image became human, but that somehow he gave the image air that it spoke. We have the technology today to produce an image that breathes and speaks. (For example robot or cloning).

16) (Read) (Chapter 13:16); And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:  (KJV)

16) Explanation: (Chapter 13:16); And he causeth all, both small and great,  rich and poor,  free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: (Now the word “all” represents only those in his domain, not the entirely of the world. This domain will include the entirety of the area of the old Roman Empire, which includes North Africa, and the Middle East, and most of modern Europe; this will be his literal mark).

16) Comments: (Chapter 13:16); Now the “mark of the beast,” which the False Prophet will require of all people, will bring the entire world into a global economy, and a world government, and a world religion. Now in order to buy or sell, every person will have to have this mark on his or her forehead or on his right hand for identification. Now in (Revelation 13:8), we are told that some will refuse to worship the Antichrist, and it appears that these will not have the mark upon them.

17) (Read) (Chapter 13:17); and that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (KJV)

17) Explanation: (Chapter 13:17); And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark. (Now we are told in verses eleven through thirteen that the seduction of the Antichrist will be religious). (Now we are told in verses sixteen and seventeen it will be economic). Also the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Now the thought is that either the “name” of the beast or his “number” will be required as a brand or his mark upon all).

17) Comments: (Chapter 13:17); Now this must be the equivalent of the name of the beast. Now evidently the Greek equivalent of the Antichrist’s name and it will in some way equal the number “666”. Now the second half of the Tribulation will be an awful time for believers who refuse the mark. All the people will have to flee for their safety, and it will be almost impossible to feed their families without the mark of the beast.

18) (Read) (Chapter 13:18); Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (KJV)

18) Explanation: (Chapter 13:18); Here is wisdom. (Now this is the wisdom of our God, (Jehovah). Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast. (Now the idea is that it is the number of a man, not of God, which means he will give account to our God, whom he has repeatedly blasphemed). For it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. (Now I tell you that it is the number of a man, not a kingdom, not a religion, not a dispensation, but a man and this number will be 666).

18) Comments: (Chapter 13:18); He caused all to receive a mark in their right hand or in their foreheads that no man could buy or sell without the mark. This mark is identified as “666” in (Revelation 13:18). This will be the mark of the last World Kingdom. Through this identification, the Anti-Christ can remove all opposition. Now that is he would remove all opposition if time allowed but there is a remnant of Jews that did not take the mark. And there are Gentiles that did not take the mark – (Revelation 12:14-17); (Matthew 25:31-46). It is implied that anyone that takes the Mark of the Beast will not be saved, (Revelation 20:4). The ones that refuse the mark will be beheaded in (Revelation 20:4). In the ETERNAL KINGDOM” that God sets up, we will have “HIS NAME” in our foreheads, (Revelation 22:4); (Revelation 14:1).

A) Now as we come to the end of this chapter thirteen in the book of Revelations, I would like to ask you a question about the condition of “your Soul”. If you were to die before this day comes to an end. “Where would your Soul spend eternity at?

B) Now this is probably the most important question in your life. Would you like to ask Jesus to save you now? If so just keep on reading and the next few verses will tell you how to be saved.

C) Now all you have to do is just sincerely pray a simple prayer like this one here. “Please God, I confess to you my sins and need Jesus in my life right now. I will turn away from my sins and place my Faith in your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”

Your, Brother in Christ
