Book of Revelation – Bible Study – Chapter 19

The Book of Revelation Chapter 19”

Introduction: In this lesson we are going to study the messages of Jesus Christ that He gave to the Apostle John about chapter nineteen. Now Revelation 19,describes; the following: 1) (Revelation 19:1-6), describes the four Allelujahs,  2) (Revelation 19:7-10), describes the marriage of the Lamb, 3) (Revelation 19:11-16), describes the Second Coming of Christ from Heaven, 4) (Revelation 19:17-19), describes the Battle of Armageddon, 5) (Revelation 19:20-21), describes the destruction of the Beast, False Prophet, and his armies.

Revelation Chapter 19:

I) (There is Rejoicing in Heaven over destruction of the Harlot) (Revelation 19:1-6)

1) (Read) (Chapter 19:1); And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God: (KJV)

1) Explanation: (Chapter 19:1); And after these things John said that he heard a great voice of many people from Heaven. (Now these things pertains to specifically chapter eighteen, but also the entire Book of Revelation in a broader sense). I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, (Here John said that he heard a great voice of many people in Heaven which proclaims “praise,” that is the exact opposite of what is happening on Earth). These people were saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honor, and power, unto the Lord our God. (Now the song here, and it is a Son, that does not begin with ascribing, “Salvation to God”, and “The Salvation is God’s; and it belongs unto God Almighty.”

1) Comments: (Chapter 19:1); Now these first few verses are an introduction of the Bride of Jesus Christ. This glorious event is celebrated by the usage of Heaven’s greatest praise word. That word is Alleluia or (Hallelujah)! Now nowhere else in the New Testament can this word be found and it appears four times. The Holy Spirit has reserved it for this occasion. Now in the Old Testament it appears twenty-four times in the book of Psalms. Here in this scene the people that are mentioned are; 1) all of the believers, 2) all of the Old Testament saints, 3) all of the Church-age saints, 4) all of the Tribulation saints. They will join together in this great song proclaiming, “Alleluia” to our God. Now Heaven is about to celebrate the Lamb’s victory over the Harlot and the Lamb’s marriage to the Bride (the Church). Now we are told that “to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white; “for the fine linen is for the righteousness of all the Saints”. (Revelation 19:8); Now the bride’s array, fine linen, which is explained as “the righteousness,” requires the translation of (Righteous Deeds.” Now this means that the wedding garment of the Bride will be made up of the righteous deeds done in their life. Now the Bride is the Church or (the Saints) because of the righteousness of Jesus Christ; the Bride is also clothed for the wedding because of her acts that she has done.

2) (Read) (Chapter 19:2); For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. (KJV)

2) Explanation: (Chapter 19:2); For true and righteous are his judgments. (Now True and Righteous is God’s Judgment, but neither man nor spirit beings, in all honesty, can fault our God for what He has done regarding the system of this world). For here He (Jesus) hath judged the great whore. (Now this pertains to every false way of Salvation, and no matter how beautiful it might look outwardly, but the Lord Jesus Christ refers to it as the “great whore”). Which did corrupt the earth with her fornication. (This refers to all the religions of the world, and for all time; however, it also refers to the fact that if the Preacher is not preaching “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified”, as the answer to man’s dilemma, then in some manner he is preaching and projecting a type of “spiritual fornication”). And hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. (Now almost all of the persecution against the true Saints of God in this world, and for all time, has come from apostate religion. Now it all started with Cain in (Genesis chapter four).

2) Comments: (Chapter 19:2); Now God is true and righteous for his judgments: for God hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. Here God destroyed that great whore or prostitute, called Babylon, which represents the early Roman Empire with its many gods and the blood of Christian martyrs on its hands. This great prostitute represents the seductiveness of the government system that uses immoral means to gain its own pleasure, prosperity, and its advantage over mankind. The wicked city of Babylon also symbolizes any system that is hostile to our God.

3) (Read) (Chapter 19:3); And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. (KJV)

3) Explanation: (Chapter 19:3); And again they said, Alleluia. (This “praise of the Lord Jesus Christ” is because of the destruction of the city of Babylon. Now the “Alleluia” in verse one was proclaimed concerning the destruction of the Mystery Babylon). And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. (Now this proclaims that her Judgment will be forever and that means for all eternity).

3) Comments: (Chapter 19:3); And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever. Now here again a great multitude in Heaven gave praises to our God for His victory over the destruction of the city of Babylon. Here the word “alleluia” is the Greek equivalent of “hallelujah” and means “Praise Yahweh” or “Praise the Lord” (Psalms 106); (Psalms 111); (Psalms 113); (Psalms 117); (Psalms 135); (Psalms 150). The eternal smoke symbolizes the permanence of Babylon’s destruction. (Read) (Isaiah 34:8-10); Now her smoke rose up and there was, and shall be, a continual evidence of God’s judgments executed on this great whore or idolatrous city; nor shall it ever be restored.

4) (Read) (Chapter 19:4); And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. (KJV)

4) Explanation: (Chapter 19:4); And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts (Living Ones) fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, (Now these “twenty-four Elders” represent all the redeemed of all the ages; and they are twenty-four men from the Old Testament and the New Testament. Now the “four Living Ones” represent the Creation of God, and how that Creation can serve its full purpose as originally intended); saying, Amen; Alleluia. (Now this “Alleluia” signals the end of all evil, and the beginning of all Righteousness).

4) Comments: In verse 4 Chapter 19; the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia. Now the four and twenty elders. And the true Church of the Lord Jesus converted from among the Jews.

A) Below are listed the sayings and the result of all four Alleluia.

1) Alleluia: Now the first Alleluia; He has judged the great whore (Mystery Babylon).

2) Alleluia: Now the word her is the (city of Babylon) and her smoke rose up forever.

3) Alleluia: Here the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fall down and “worship God omnipotent reigneth”.

4) Alleluia: This last Alleluia is for the “Lord God’s omnipotent reigneth”.

5) (Read) (Chapter 19:5); And a voice came out of the throne  saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. (KJV)

5) Explanation: (Chapter 19:5); And a voice came out of the throne. (This voice that came out of the Throne is the silent regarding the identity). The voice from the Throne saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. (Now every true Believer will praise the Lord Jesus Christ, and they should do this continually).

5) Comments: In verse 5 Chapter 19; John tells us that a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great. Now here John simply said that this voice said that we all should “Praise our God”; whether we are redeemed Jews or Gentiles, and give glory to God. Now as Christians; and also the Jews and the Gentiles should always Praise our God, and give glory to God for our Salvation.

6) (Read) (Chapter 19:6); And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. (KJV)

6) Explanation: (Chapter 19:6); And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude. (Now this “great multitude” consists of every single Believer who has ever lived, and that means all the way from Abel to the last one that was saved in the Great Tribulation). And as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings. (Now this is praise that expresses itself, and not merely the thoughts of a silent heart). Here the voice of the great multitude were saying, Alleluia, for the Lord God is omnipotent and reigneth. (Now this “Alleluia” pertains to the Lord Jesus Christ reigning as King, and He will forever. Satan does not reign. Now the Lord God Omnipotent Reigns, and He is “all powerful”).

6) Comments: In verse 6 Chapter 19; John said that he heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Now this voice of a great multitude is the universal church of God that is gathered from among the Gentiles. Now here “Our Lord God, the Almighty, reigneth should be a consolation to every genuine Christian that His Lord and God is the Almighty. And that this Almighty never trusts the reins of any government of this universe out of His hands. Now if we as Christians believe this, then what has the church to fear?

II) (The Marriage of the Lamb) (Revelation 19:7-10)

7) (Read) (Chapter 19:7); Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come and his wife hath made herself ready. (KJV)

7) Explanation: (Chapter 19:7); Let us be glad and rejoice. (Now all the redeemed are about to be joined in Holy Matrimony to the Lamb of God who has Saved them). And we will give honor to him. (Now God has made it possible for mankind to be redeemed, and did so through the Sacrifice of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ). For the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. (Now this presents a scene that will take place in Heaven immediately before the Second Coming. Now the “Bride” is the Redeemed of all ages).

III)  (The Marriage of the Lamb:There were three separate stages of a Jewish wedding)

7) Comments: In verse 7 Chapter 19; The Apostle John tells us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come and his wife hath made herself ready. Now the marriage of the Lamb and the marriage supper of the Lamb “in Heaven” in (Revelation 19:1) are evidence of the Church being in Heaven is prior to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ to earth. Here Jesus Christ is the bridegroom at this marriage and His Church is the bride. Now the word “church” appears nineteen times in (Revelation chapters 1-3); and does not appear again until (Revelation 22:16). Now this shows the absence of the Church from the earth during the judgments of God in (Revelation chapters 4-18).

7) Extra-Comments: are listed below about marriages in the scriptures of the bible.

1) The First stage”, the marriage contract was often consummated, either by one or “both of the fathers of the young man, and the young lady. This was called the “Betrothal”; and was legally binding. An example of this espouse to her. (Matthew 1:18-19); (Matthew 1:20-21); (Matthew 1:24-25) was that Joseph was called the husband of Mary while he was betrothed or The Spiritual truth of the betrothal is seen in (II Corinthians 11:2). “For I am jealous over you with a Godly jealously. For I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Jesus Christ. The father choosing a bride for his son is revealed in (Ephesians 1:4); “According as he hath chosen in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love.”

2) The “second stage” of the marriage was the “Presentation” of the bride to the groom. Then the bride’s father would place the hand of the bride into the hand of the groom’s father. Then the groom’s father would place the hand of the brides into the hand of his son. Now this would make the marriage fully binding. Now the spiritual truth of this presentation, is revealed in (Ephesians 5:25-27). Now they would say; “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be Holy without blemish.” Now this presentation occurs at the time of the Rapture, when the church meets Jesus in the air in (I Thessalonians 4:16-17). Then the marriage itself takes place after the Judgment Seat of Christ in (II Corinthians 5:10); (I Corinthians 3:13-15) in Heaven.

3) The “third stage” of the marriage was the marriage supper or the marriage feast. The groom would take his bride to the home of her father for a supper or feast depending on the wealth of the bridegroom. This marriage feast of Christ and the church is revealed in two parables (Matthew 22:1-14); (Matthew 25:1-13). The marriage supper or feast will be on the earth after the Tribulation and probably will extend the length of the Milliennial into a glorious honeymoon.

4) She should be arrayed in fine linen: This fine linen represents the brides wedding gown. This wedding gown represents her righteousness, and was given to her after the Judgment Seat of Christ in (II Corinthians 5:10); (I Corinthians 3:13-15); and (Revelation 4:4). After the wedding feast the bride lays aside the wedding gown and is again clothed with his imputed righteousness.

8) (Read) (Chapter 19:8); And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.  (KJV)

8) Explanation: (Chapter 19:8); And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. (Now this “fine linen” is symbolic of “Righteousness,” which was afforded by what Jesus Christ did at the Cross).

8) Comments: In verse 8 Chapter 19; the Apostle John said that to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. Now the bride’s clothing is the righteousness of the Saints. These righteous acts are not religious deeds that are done by believers to their merit, but they reflect the work of our Lord Jesus Christ to save us. (Revelation 7:9); and (Revelation 7:14); Here the garment in this Scripture is a symbol of righteousness. In (Isaiah 64:6); and (Philippians 3:6-8); is showing the best that a moral and religious man under the law could do. Now in the good ethical sense this garment symbolizes, 1) the basic provision of God’s salvation by his grace through faith in Jesus Christ, “the garments of salvation” and the robe of righteousness in (Isaiah 61:10); and (Romans 3:21). 2) Here the garment of “fine linen” is the righteousness or the “righteous deeds”, from all the saints, as here in verse eight, and the works of godliness and goodness produced by the Holy Spirit; as the believer judges the flesh and yields himself to our God in (Romans 13:14). 3) There are the “good works” unto which we are “created in Jesus Christ” in (Ephesians 2:10); with that the believers are to adorn themselves to bring honor to Jesus Christ’s name here in (Matthew 5:16); (I Timothy 2:10); (Titus 2:8-10); (I Peter 2:12); (I Peter 5:5); (I Corinthians 3:12-14).

9) (Read) (Chapter 19:9); And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb.  And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. (KJV)

9) Explanation: (Chapter 19:9); And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. (Now the man speaking to the Apostle John said this. Now all the redeemed Saints are the “Blessed Ones”; and the word “Lamb” is used, signifying that all of this is made possible because of what Jesus Christ did at the Cross.) And he saith unto me, these are the true sayings of God. (Now again this refers to the fact that all of this is made possible by what Jesus Christ did at regarding “His Finished Work.”)

9) Comments: In verse 9 chapter 19; Jesus said to John Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said unto me, these are the true sayings of God. Now here Jesus said that blessed are they that are called into the marriage supper of the Lamb. This is an evident allusion to the marriage of the king’s son and the calling of Jews and Gentiles, are particularly pointed out here. Now remember that blessed are all they who hear the Gospel, and those that are invited to lay hold on everlasting life and a new home in Heaven.

9) Extra-Comments: Below is a list of the marriage party and the guest at the marriage supper.

1) “The Bridegroom”: The bridegroom is the King’s son and He is “Jesus Christ” (Matthew 22: 1-14). In (John 3:29), John the Baptist said Jesus is the bridegroom. Jesus is called the bridegroom in (Matthew 9:15).

Jesus is revealed as the bridegroom in the parable of the ten virgins in (Matthew 25:1-10). Jesus is the Lamb in (John l:29)  and he is the bridegroom also.

2) “The Bride”:  Although the bride was chosen before the foundation of the world, (Ephesians 1:4), this esposal, could not take place until after Christ assumed humanity (I Timothy 2:5). The Big question is, are all believers in the Bride? There is a difference between the family of God, the Kingdom of God, and the Church of God.

A) The family of God includes “all believers” in Heaven and on the Earth – (Ephesians 3:15); (Galatians 3:26); (Roman 4:16). God’s family is bigger than the Kingdom of God or the Church of God, for it now contains all the saved from Adam to the last man who has believed. A person is born into the Family of God by faith.

B) The Kingdom of God includes all the saved on the earth at any given time. This Kingdom is now spiritual and is entered in by being born again – (Luke 16:16); (Luke 17:20-21); (John 3:3); (Matthew 18:3). This Kingdom will be a physical Kingdom when Jesus establishes it upon the earth. – (Luke 1:30-33); (II Samuel 7:12-16); (Isaiah 9:6-7); (Daniel 2:44); (Acts 1:6-7); (Revelation 20:4-6).

C) The Church of God is an assembly or congregation of baptized believers that was; established by Jesus when he was upon the earth. This church is now carrying out the commission and teachings when he left it. His church will remain until he comes back to call it out of this wor1d to ever be with him as his wife. The church is a called out group that is now adminsterating the Kingdom of God, Church member ship is not something a man receives with salvation, but is a blessing he receives afterwards by being added through baptism to the church. The church is the body of Christ – (Roman 12:4-5); (I Corinthians 12:12-13); (I Corinthians 12:27-28); (Ephesians 1:22-23); (Ephesians 4:4-6); (Ephesians 5:23-27); (Colossians 1:18-24). There is only One body (Ephesians 4:4) that was commissioned to preach the gospel, baptize, and teach his commandments; (Matthew 28:19-20); (Mark 16:15-16); (Luke 24:46-48); (Acts 1:8). And this body is the local, visable, Baptist Church, that has been added to since the days of Christ! The church, that Jesus built is spiritual in that only born again believers are candidates for membership and physical in that only baptized believers can be added – (Acts.2:41).

3) The Guests at the Marriage Supper are listed below:

A) Old Testament Saints –          (John 3:29); (Luke 13:28-29).

B) Tribulation Saints –                (Revelation 20:4)

C) Living Redeemed Israel –      (Matthew 25:1-13)

D) Living Redeemed Gentiles(Matthew 25:31-34)

10) (Read) (Chapter 19:10); And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus:  worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (KJV)

10) Explanation: (Chapter 19:10); And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren (Now this is obvious here, this is a man; and he looks so much like our Lord Jesus Christ, because of his glorified form, that the Apostle John thought it was Jesus Christ; now in a sense, this tells us what “all Saints” will look like in the coming Resurrection). They that have the testimony of Jesus. (This presents the fact that the Ministry of the Holy Spirit is to testify to Jesus Christ and of Christ too). These two words are very important because we are to worship God only and have no other God’s before us. (Now this tells us in these two words that we are not to worship Angels, Saints, the Virgin Mary, or anything else but “worship God only.)” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. (This “Testimony” is His Atoning Word and what Jesus Christ did at the Cross. Now every “Prophecy” of the Old Testament points in some way to Jesus Christ and what He did at the Cross. Also every proclamation presently uttered must in some way point to the “Cross of Christ.)”

10) Comments: (Chapter 19:10); Here the Apostle John said that he fell at his feet to worship him. And the Angel said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. Now here the Angel did not accept John’s homage of worship because only God is worthy of worship. We should remember that Jesus Christ is the central focus of God’s revelation and His redemptive plan. Remember, as you read the book of Revelation, don’t get bogged down in all the details of the awesome visions. But just remember that the main theme in all the visions is all about the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ over all evil.

IV) (The Second coming of Jesus Christ in Glory)

(Revelation 19:11-16) (Read)(Matthew 24:16-30)

11) (Read) (Chapter 19:11); And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (KJV)

11) Explanation: (Chapter 19:11); And I saw heaven opened. (John said he saw Heaven opened and records the final Prophetic hour regarding the Second Coming, and without a doubt this will be the greatest moment in human history). And behold a white horse and our Lord Jesus sat upon the horse. (Now this proclaims a war horse in (Zechariah 14:3); and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True. (Our Lord Jesus is faithful to His Promises and True to His Judgments. Now He contrasts with the false Messiah of (Revelation 6:2), who was neither faithful nor true). And in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (This refers to the manner of His Second Coming).

11) Comments: In verse 11 Chapter 19; Here John said, I saw Heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and He (Jesus) that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He (Jesus) doth judge and make war. Now here Heaven opens and Jesus appears this time not as a Lamb, but as a warrior on a white horse (symbolizing victory). Now Jesus came as a Lamb to be a sacrifice for all sin. But now He will return as a Conqueror and King to execute judgment. (Read) (II Thessalonians 1:7-10), We should remember that Jesus Christ’s first coming brought us forgiveness of our sins, but His second coming will bring judgment. Now the battle lines have been drawn between God and evil, and the world is waiting for the “King Jesus” to ride onto the field.

12) (Read) (Chapter 19:12); His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (KJV)

12) Explanation: (Chapter 19:12); His eyes were as a flame of fire. (This flame of fire represents Judgment). And on his head were many crowns. (Now the “many crowns” will represent the fact that He will not be Lord of just one realm but He will be Lord of all realms). And he had a name written, that no man knew, but He himself. (Now this is not meaning that it is unknown, but rather it is definitely unknowable; and it will remain unreachable to man, meaning that only Himself (Jesus) knew).

12) Comments: In verse 12 Chapter 19; John tells us that His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. Although Jesus Christ is called “Faithful and True” in (Revelation 19:11); and the “Word of God” in (Revelation 19:13); and He is called “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” in (Revelation 19:16). But here in verse 12 it implies that no name can do Jesus justice. For Jesus Christ is greater than any description or any expression that the human mind can devise.

13) (Read) (Chapter 19:13); And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (KJV)

13) Explanation: (Chapter 19:13); And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood. (Now this speaks of the Cross where He shed His Life’s Blood, which gives Him the right to Judge the world). And his name is called The Word of God. (Now His revealed Name is the Word of God, for He revealed God in His Grace and Power to make Him known, so that all the Believers can say, “I know Him.)”

13) Comments: In verse 13 Chapter 19; The Apostle John tells us that Jesus was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. Here in this verse 13 Jesus is called “the Word of God”. This reminds us of “Jesus Christ’s eternity and His identity as God Himself” in (John 1:1). Also the scriptures teaches us that there will be visible for all to see when Jesus Christ returns to this earth to establish His kingdom and rule for a thousand years. Now the greatest theme of all Bible prophecy is the second coming of Jesus Christ. This was the theme of mankind’s first prophecy in (Jude chapters 14 and 15). This is also the last message of the Bible in (Revelation 22:20).

V) (The Victory for the Lamb) (Revelation 19:14-18)

14) (Read) (Chapter 19:14); And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (KJV)

14) Explanation: (Chapter 19:14); And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses. (Now these “armies” are the Saints of God, in fact, all the Saints who have ever lived, meaning we will be with Him at the Second Coming). He was clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (Now this phrase “white and clean”, means we have been washed in the Blood of the Lamb; and this Righteousness of the Saints was all made possible by Jesus Christ and the Cross).

14) Comments: In verse 14 Chapter 19; Now John tells us that the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. Here in this verse the armies in Heaven will be the saints who come with Jesus Christ in (I Thessalonians 3:13); (I Thessalonians 4:14); (Jude 1:14). Now this is the Church, “His Bride”. The Bride is dressed in white, which she received at the marriage supper. Now remember the saints are only observers and attendants to our Lord Jesus Christ, who wages war against the nations and Jesus wins this war by Himself. Now the saints will share in Jesus Christ’s victory and glory in (Romans 8:18-19). We should remember that the sword from His mouth is “the spoken Word” that He will speak and it is by His Word that He shall smite the nations. Also Jesus Christ will destroy all the unbelievers in (Revelation 19:21); (Matthew 25:41); (II Thessalonians 1:8-9).

15) (Read) (Chapter 19:15); And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (KJV)

15) Explanation: (Chapter 19:15); And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword. (Now this represents that Jesus Christ is functioning totally and completely in the realm of the Word of God). That with it he should smite the nations. (This refers to all the nations that will join the Antichrist in his efforts to destroy Israel; and it will be at the Battle of Armageddon). And he shall rule them with a rod of iron. (Now this refers to the fact that the Lord of Glory will not allow or tolerate in any shape, form, or fashion that which “steals” kills, and destroys”). Here He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (Now this scene refers to the Battle of Armageddon).

15) Comments: In verse 15 Chapter 19; John writes that out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Now here Jesus Christ will rule with a “rod of iron” which will subject all nations to Himself, and He will destroy all of His enemies in (Psalms 2:8-9); and (I Corinthians 15:24-25). Now here in this verse, God treads the great winepress of His wrath; this pictures the violence and the intensity of God’s coming judgment on the earth. (Isaiah 63:2-6); (Joel 3:12-14); (Revelation 19:15)

16) (Read) (Chapter 19:16); And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (KJV)

16) Explanation: (Chapter 19:16); And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. (Now this proclaims the fact that there will be no doubt as to who He actually is).

16) Comments: In verse 16 Chapter 19; The Apostle John tells us that Jesus Christ had on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. Now this is the name on our Lord Jesus Christ’s robe or vesture. This indicated that Jesus will be above all natural and supernatural beings. And His title clearly indicates that the coming triumph as He returns to set up His Millennial Kingdom on earth. Now on his vesture and on his thigh a name written. Doctor Dodd has well observed on this passage, that “it appears to have been an ancient custom among several nations to adorn the images of their deities, princes, victors at public games, and other eminent persons.

Now with inscriptions, expressing either the character of the persons, their names, or some other circumstance which might contribute to their honor; and to that custom the description here given of Christ may possibly have some allusion. There are several such images yet extant, with an inscription written either on the garment, or on one of the thighs, or on that part of the garment which was over the thigh; and probably this is the meaning of the apostle. And as these inscriptions are placed on the upper garment, Grotius seems very justly to have explained the words by his imperial robe, that his power in this victory might be conspicuous to all. But as a farther confirmation of this sense of the passage it may not be improper here to describe briefly several remarkable figures of this sort, which are still extant.

VI) (The War of Armageddon) (Revelation 19:17-19)

17) (Read) (Chapter 19:17); And I saw an Angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; (KJV)

17) Explanation: (Chapter 19:17); And I saw an Angel standing in the sun. (This proclaims the fact that Faith believes what is written, even if the mind cannot comprehend what is written). And He cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, (Now this denotes, and it is obvious, that supremacy over the Creation), Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God. (Now this is symbolic, but it is spoken in this way to proclaim the magnitude of that coming time in (Ezekiel 39:2); and (Ezekiel  39:11-12)

17) Comments: In verse 17 Chapter 19; John said he saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God. Now here John said that the Angel cried with a loud voice, saying to all of fowls that fly in the midst of Heaven. “Come and gather yourselves for that great supper of God”. Now the name of “Armageddon” is only found in (Revelation 16:16). Now Armageddon is located in the ancient valley of Megiddo. This valley is west of the Jordan in the plain of Jezreel between Samaria and Galilee. It is the appointed place of where the armies of the beast and the false prophet will be destroyed by our Lord Jesus Christ descending to earth in glory in (Revelation 19:15); (Revelation 19:19); (Revelation 19:21).

18) (Read) (Chapter 19:18); That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (KJV)

18) Explanation: (Chapter 19:18); That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. (Now this proclaims the fact that the power of Almighty God does not blink at those on Earth who consider themselves to be “great.” Now the Judgment will be identical for all. (Ezekiel 39:18-20)

18) Comments: In verse 18 Chapter 19; John writes that ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. Now this “supper of the great God” is different from the “marriage supper of the Lamb” in (Revelation 19:9). Here at this supper God calls the fowls or birds of the sky to gather and eat the flesh of those who have died in the Battle of Armageddon” (Revelation 16:14); (Revelation 19:21); (Ezekiel 39:17-20). Now we should remember that “all men” will indicates “all kinds of men”; and not everyone at Armageddon will be an unbeliever. (Read)- (Matthew 25:31-46);

19) (Read) (Chapter 19:19); And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. (KJV)

19) Explanation: (Chapter 19:19); And I saw the beast. (Now John saw the Antichrist leading this mighty army; Now this is the “man of sin” that was mentioned by Paul in (II Thessalonians chapter two); and the kings of the earth, and their armies. (Now this refers to all the Antichrist could get to join him; and it includes the “Kings of the East” in (Revelation 16:12); gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. (Now this refers to Jesus Christ and the great army of Heaven which is with Him; as stated, this is the “Battle of Armageddon.”  (Ezekiel chapters 38-39)

19) Comments: In verse 19 Chapter 19; John said he saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against Jesus that sat on the horse, and against his army the saints. Here the battle lines have been drawn and the greatest confrontation in all history of the world is about to begin. The beast (the Antichrist) and the false prophet have gathered the governments and the armies of all the earth under the Antichrist’s rule. Now the armies believe that they have come here to make war of their own accord. But in reality, our God (Jehovah) “the only true God of Abraham, Jacob, and Isaac” has summoned them to this battle in order to defeat them and destroy the evil.

VII) (The Doom of the Beast and the False Prophet) (Revelation 19:20)

20) (Read) (Chapter 19:20); And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (KJV)

20) Explanation: (Chapter 19:20); And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him. (This refers to both of them falling in the Battle of Armageddon). Here the Antichrist has deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. (Now this pertains to Satan’s chief weapon, which is deception). These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. (Now here is the destiny of the Antichrist and the False Prophet, and all who follow them).

20) Comments: In verse 20 Chapter 19; The beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. Now here the beast and the false prophet; which are the two great deceivers that was used by the Devil to deceive men about our God during the Tribulation. Now they are conquered by our Lord Jesus Christ and He cast them into “the lake of fire alive”. They are the first to be cast into this lake of fire, which is really the eternal Hell that God has “prepared for the Devil and his angels in (Matthew 25:41). (Read) (The page on Hell).

VIII) (The Doom of the Kings and the Armies) (Revelation 19:21)

21) (Read) (Chapter 19:21); And the remnant, were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. (KJV)

21) Explanation: (Chapter 19:21); And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth. (Now the Lord Jesus Christ will speak the Word in the Battle of Armageddon, and whatever He speaks will take place and then all the remnant were slain with the sword that proceeded out of His mouth). And all the fowls were filled with their flesh. (Now this proclaims the end of this conflict. The Antichrist and his hoards of men will announce to the world what they are going to do regarding Israel, but the end result will be buzzards gorging on their flesh).

21) Comments: In verse 21 Chapter 19; The rest were killed with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, even the sword which came forth out of his mouth: and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

Now this is the concluding verse about the “Battle of Armageddon”, and our Lord Jesus Christ slays all who rebelled against Him that opposed Him in setting up His kingdom. Here the bodies that were left on the earth will become food for the birds. Now the souls of all those who rebelled against God will go to a place of torment. They will be in this place for a time; just waiting for the “Great White Throne Judgment” after the Millennium.

Now as we come to the end of this chapter nineteen in the book of Revelations, I would like to ask you a question about the condition of “Your Soul”. If you were to die before this day comes to an end. “Where would your Soul spend eternity at? Now this is probably the most important question in your life. Would you like to ask Jesus to save you now? If so just keep on reading and the next few verses will tell you how to be saved.

Now all you have to do is just sincerely pray a simple prayer like this one here. “Please God, I confess to you my sins and need Jesus in my life right now. I will turn away from my sins and place my Faith in your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”

Note: I pray that this Bible Study lesson about chapter twenty-one will help you in your studies and help you understand Gods’ word in the Bible. Please feel free to pass them on to other people if they have helped you.
