Book of Revelation – Bible Study – Chapter 22

The Book of Revelation Chapter 22

Introduction: Today we will begin our study of the last chapter of the Bible. (Revelation 22:1-21) Now God is a merciful and patient God and He is a God of love, but He hates sin. Remember that our God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked soul. In chapter twenty-two we the believers will see God the Father, we will see our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior, and we will see the Holy Spirit too. We will see the Heaven’s River water of life, also the tree of life, and we will see that city, New Jerusalem with it’s streets of gold. Now Heaven will be a place of learning how to worship and serve our God (Jehovah) and also we will sing and learn to fellowship and praise God for all the many wonderful things that God has done for us in Heaven.

Revelation Chapter 22

The New Paradise; the River and the “Tree of Life (Revelation 22:1-5)

Revelation 22:1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. (KJV)

  • Explanation: (Revelation 22:1); And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, that is as clear as crystal. John said that he showed him a pure river of the Water of Life and this is symbolic of the Holy Spirit in (John 7:37-39). Proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. (Now this “Water of Life” is made possible by what Jesus Christ did at the Cross).
  • Comments: (Revelation 22:1); John said that He showed him a river of pure water of life and it was clear as crystal coming out from the throne of God and of the Lamb. Now this water of life is a symbol of eternal life. Jesus used this same image with the Samaritan woman in (John 4:7-14). This water pictures the fullness of life with God and the eternal blessings that comes when we believe in Jesus and allow Him to satisfy our spiritual thirst. (Revelation 22:17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come.  And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
  •  Extra-Comments: The pure river of water of life. This is evidently a reference to the garden of paradise, and the river by which it was watered; and there is also a reference to the account this in, (Genesis 2:10) and (Revelation 22:1). Here the “Water of life” as we have seen before, generally signifies spring or running water. Also here it may signify incessant communications of happiness proceeding from our God.

2) (Read) (Chapter 22:2); In the midst of the street of it,  and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (KJV)

2) Explanation: (Chapter 22:2); Here John gives us reference to the midst of the street of the New Paradise. (Now this proclaims the fact that this “pure River of Water of Life, and is clear as crystal” which flows in the middle of this street of pure gold). And on either side of the river, was there the tree of life. (Now here the fruit of this Tree of Life must be eaten every mouth, and we are speaking of the part of the population who don’t have glorified bodies). The “Tree of life” bares twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month. This same tree of life is the same tree that was in (Genesis 2:9); and (Revelation 22:2). (Now here we have the number “12” again, which signifies the Government of God as it relates to the manner of Eternal Life. And there are twelve different types of fruit, but we are not told what they are). And these leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. (Now this pertains to the stopping of any type of sickness before it even begins). Now the population on Earth, which will never die and will not have Glorified Bodies, and they will need these things. (Now these are the ones who were saved during the Kingdom Age, and thereafter).

2) Comments: (Chapter 22:2); John tells us that this tree of life is like the tree in the Garden of Eden in (Genesis 2:9). Now after Adam and Eve sinned, they were forbidden to eat from the tree of life because they could not have eternal life as long as they were under sin’s control. But because of the forgiveness of sin through the blood of Jesus, now there will be no evil or sin in this city. We will be able to eat freely from the tree of life when sin’s control over us is destroyed and our eternity with our God is secure. Now the leaves of this tree will be used to heal the relationships of the nations toward each other so that we might live equitably and fairly in all eternity.

2) Extra-Comments: “Now in the midst of the street of it”; Which is, of the city that was described in the preceding chapter; “The tree of life” is an allusion to (Genesis 2:9). And this tree of life is stated to be in the streets of the city, and on each side of the river, and tree must here be as enallage of the singular for the plural number, (trees of life), or trees which yielded fruit by which life was preserved. The account in the book of Ezekiel tells us this. “And by the river, upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not fade and it shall bring forth new fruit.

Now according to his months and the fruit thereof shall be for “meat” or (food), and the leaf thereof for “medicine.” (Ezekiel 47:12); Now Twelve manners of fruits are Twelve fruits; which is, the fruit twelve times in the year, as is immediately explained, that yielded her fruit every month. Now this was a great and spacious city, one fountain was not sufficient to provide water for it, therefore a river is mentioned; a great river, by which it was sufficiently watered. Some think that by this tree of life the Gospel is indicated and the twelve fruits are the twelve apostles; and the leaves are Gospel doctrines by which the nations are the Gentiles, are healed of the disease of sin. But this seems to be a fanciful interpretation.

3) (Read) (Chapter 22:3); And there shall be no more curse:  but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: (KJV)

3) Explanation: (Chapter 22:3); And there shall be no more curse. (Now this curse was placed on the Earth at the fall of man). (But here in verse three God said here that there will be no more curse because there will be no more sin). But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it. (Now the authority of rulership will be as great with God the Son as it is with God the Father; in fact, by the use of the word “Lamb”, we are made to realize that all of this is made possible because of what Jesus Christ did at the Cross). Now God said that His servants shall serve him. (Now the idea is that every Believer in the Perfect Age will so love the Lord God and the Lamb that they will gladly, “serve Him”).

3) Comments: (Chapter 22:3); John said that there shall be no more curse because the throne of God and the Lamb shall be in it and his servants shall serve God (Jehovah) and our Lord Jesus Christ will be in it. Now no longer will there be any curse which means that nothing accursed will be in our God’s Holy presence. This also fulfills Zechariah’s prophecy in (Zechariah 14:11). And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited. There will be no more curse because there shall be no more sinning against God. So there shall be no more curse of God upon the people; for they shall be all his servants, and serve him. Our first parents came under the curse by sinning against their Maker in paradise. And these shall never apostatize, therefore neither they nor the earth shall be cursed.

4) (Read) (Chapter 22:4); And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. (KJV)

4) Explanation: (Chapter 22:4); And they shall see God’s face in verse four. (Now they shall see His face, actually shows intimate relationship with God). And God said his name shall be in their foreheads.

(Now this refers to ownership; and that we were bought “with a price,” and that price was the “Blood of the Lamb”).

4) Comments: (Chapter 22:4); John said that they shall see God’s face and His name shall be on their foreheads. Now the believers hope today, is that they will see God’s face to face in (I Corinthians 13:12). Now this is something that neither Moses nor any other human was not allowed to do in (Exodus 33:20). Now in (Exodus 33:20), God said, Thou canst not see my face; for there shall no man see me, and live. And the Lord said, thou shall stand upon a rock; And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a cleft of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by. And I will take away mine hand, and thou shall see my back; but my face shall not be seen. (Exodus 13:20-23)

5) (Read) (Chapter 22:5); And there shall be no night there and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. (KJV)

5) Explanation: (Chapter 22:5); And there shall be no more night there. (Now this speaks of the New Jerusalem only, for night and day will be in the balance of the Earth forever). And they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light. (Now our Lord God is the light source and He is all we will ever need). And they shall reign for ever and ever. (Now it has never been known for servants to “reign” like kings; however, these servants shall reign).

5) Comments: (Chapter 22:5); John tells us that there no night in the city of New Jerusalem because God is always present and God’s glory makes all other sources of light unnecessary. Now the city of Jerusalem has no need of the sun, neither of the moons, to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light in it. Now remember that there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light; and they shall reign for ever and ever. Now because of this, there will be no night there in (Revelation 21:25) and (Revelation 22:5).

II) (This is The Last Message of the Bible) (The Time is near) (Revelation 22:6-19)

6) (Read) (Chapter 22:6); And he said unto me, these sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. (KJV)

6) Explanation: (Chapter 22:6); And he said unto me, these sayings are faithful and true.

(Now John said that the Angel said these sayings are faithful and true). And they proclaim a simple truth, and many of the statements that are made are so absolutely astounding that they defy a description). Here the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his Angel to show unto his servants. (Now the Greek word “Aggelos” is translated “Angel” here in this verse. But should have been translated “Messenger”. Now here the Angel was sent to show the things which must shortly be done. (Now this is not speaking of John’s day, but rather the setting of the Vision is a time frame which has not come about even yet). But it will take place immediately after the Rapture of the Church. And from that point forward, which is what is meant here, we have “the things which must shortly be done,” and this refers to the “Great Tribulation”).

6) Comments: (Chapter 22:6); Now John was told that these words faithful and true, why because God can not lie. The Lord God of the Holy Prophets sent His Angel to show his servants that these things must shortly take place. Now these sayings or these words, refers to the entire Book of Revelation and the return of Jesus Christ. They are authenticated as genuine by the Angel that God sent to give them through John his servant, and to the members of the churches. Remember we must be faithful and true to God.

6) Extra-Comments: These sayings are faithful and true. (See the preceding chapter). From this verse to the end of the chapter is reckoned the epilogue of this book.

1) The angel affirms the truth of all that had been spoken.

2) Jesus Christ confirms what has been affirmed, and pledges himself for the fulfillment of all the prophecies contained in it.

3) John cautions his readers against adding or diminishing, and concludes with the apostolical blessing.

4) The things which must shortly be done. There are many sayings in this book which, if taken literally, would intimate that the prophecies delivered in the whole of the Apocalypse were to be fulfilled in a short time after their delivery to John. And this is a strong support for the scheme of Wetstein, and those who maintain that the prophecies of this book all referred to those times in which the apostle lived, and to the disturbances which then took place. And not only among the Jews; but in the Roman Empire too. What they all mean, and when and how they are to be fulfilled. “Only God in Heaven alone knows”.

III) (Now here in (Revelation 22:6-7); God gives the “Final Message” to mankind in these two verses 6 and 7. “And God said to John, these sayings are faithful and true; and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent His Angel to show unto His servants the things which must shortly be done. Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book.”

7) (Read) (Chapter 22:7); Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (KJV)

7) Explanation: (Chapter 22:7); Behold, I come quickly: (Now this has more to do with the manner of His Coming than anything else; and when He does come, which will be at the height of the Battle of Armageddon, and that will be sudden. Even immediate); blessed is he that keeps the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Now this is the only Book in the world that gives a preview of the future. Now every Believer ought to study the Book of Revelation as much as they do with any other Book in the entire Bible).

7) Comments: (Chapter 22:7); Our Lord Jesus said that He is coming quickly, but Jesus did not say that he was coming soon, but suddenly’ and this why we should be ready for His return every day of our lives. Now when Jesus comes to Rapture us up to Heaven, our Lord Jesus Christ will come “suddenly” in the “twinkling of an eye” in (I Corinthians 15:51-52). Behold, I show you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trump; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, (and we shall be changed).

8) (Read) (Chapter 22:8); And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the Angel which shewed me these things. (KJV)

8) Explanation: (Chapter 22:8); And I John saw these things, and heard them. (Now the Apostle John would be an impeccable witness because of all the things he saw and heard). And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the Angel which showed me these things. (Now here John fell down to worship the feet of the Angel, and it seems that he made the same mistake before).

8) Comments: (Chapter 22:8); Now John said he saw these things and heard them. But when the Apostle John seen and heard these things he fell down to worship before the feet of an Angel. We as Christians should never worship anything or any person, but only our Lord Jesus Christ and the only true living God of Abraham, Jacob, Isaac, and His name is “Jehovah” the God of Israel. Now hearing or reading as an eyewitness; is the next best thing to seeing the event yourself. Now John did witness these events and reported them in the book of Revelation and wrote them down so we could see and believe as he did. Now that you have read this far, and you have seen what John has written in this great book of the Revelation about Jesus Christ.

8) My questions below are three-fold. Can you answer yes to them or no I am not sure I am saved. Then my prayer for you is that I will always be praying to God to convict you of your sins. So that you can have a home in Heaven with all of the believers that loved and trusted Jesus for their “Salvation”, because He shed His blood and died on the Cross for you and me.

1) Do you believe that what our Lord Jesus has told the Apostle John is the truth? Now are you sure that you are saved?

2) Now if Jesus would come today would it be safe to say; that your soul would spend all eternity in Heaven with Him?

3) Did you know that if you do not repent of your sins that you are lost and you are bound for a Devil’s Hell where you will be in torment for all eternity? We should never waver in our Faith in Jesus Christ; but always be watching and always be ready for His return at any time because Jesus said; behold, “I COME QUICKLY,” and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (Revelation 22:12)

9) (Read) (Chapter 22:9); Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. (KJV)

9) Explanation: (Chapter 22:9); Then he saith unto me, See thou do it not. (Now this presents the same words that was used by the previous man when the Apostle John did the same thing in (Revelation 19:10). Now for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book. (Now He is one of the Great Prophet of the Old Testament, who eagerly awaits the fulfillment of these Prophecies as well). Here he tells John to worship God. (Now we are to worship God the Father “Jehovah” and God the Son, “Jesus Christ” and them only and nothing else).

9) Comments: (Chapter 22:9); Now one of the Ten Commandments is that you shall have no other gods before me in (Exodus 20:3). Here our Lord Jesus said that the greatest command of Moses’ laws was to “love the Lord your God with all of your heart and with all your soul and with all of your mind” in (Matthew 22:37). Now here at the end of the Bible, this truth is reiterated again. Here the Angel has instructs John to worship God, and worship is a major emphasis in the book of Revelation. The first step toward a meaningful worship is a desire to know God. Now if we thirst for God, the Bible promises that He will provide for us and satisfy our needs. Now would you like your worship to be completely transformed? Now confess any sins that might be hindering your fellowship with God.

Then ask God to stir your heart, now this will instill within you an unquenchable thirst to know Him. Then meditate upon how that God has revealed himself in the Bible. Now ask God to reveal Himself to you again. Now when you see God in a new way, then worshiping God will be your only fitting true response to Him.

10) (Read) (Chapter 22:10); And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. (KJV)

10) Explanation: (Chapter 22:10); And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (Now this refers to the fact that the things given in this Book are meant to be known and understood; and the truths are not hidden from us). Here in verse ten we are told that for the time is at hand. (Now this speaks of the immediate fulfillment of the events, which were to happen in consecutive order from John’s day to all eternity; and it began with the Church Age, which is almost over now. Then the “Great Tribulation” will follow, and that will conclude with the “Second Coming”, which will usher in the “Kingdom Age”, followed by the “Perfect Age”, and that will be a “Great day” because we that are saved will be with our Lord God and our Savior, Jesus Christ forever and forever.

10) Comments: (Chapter 22:10); In verse ten the Angel tells John what to do after his vision is over. Now instead of sealing up what he has written, as Daniel was commanded to do in (Daniel 12:4-12). Here the book is to be left open, so that all can read and understand. Now Daniel’s message was sealed because it was not a message for Daniel’s time. But the book of Revelation was a message for John’s time, and it is relevant today. Now as Jesus Christ’s return gets closer, there is a greater polarization between God’s followers and Satan’s followers. We must read the book of Revelation, and hear its message, and also be prepared for Jesus Christ to return at any time soon. Do not seal these sayings and do not lay them up for future Generations. Now they concern the present times and they must shortly come to pass, for the time is at hand. See above just what concerned the Jews was certainly at hand.

11) (Read) (Chapter 22:11); He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still:  and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. (KJV)

11) Explanation: (Chapter 22:11); He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still. (Now this proclaims the fact that men are building up their own destiny by the actions and habits of their lives). And he that is righteous, let him be righteous still, and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Now those that are Righteous and those that are still holy, the records will show this, and that which the Spirit of God can bring about in a person’s life. Now if they have once been “unjust and morally filthy”. This is all done through the Cross, and only through the Cross.

11) Comments: (Chapter 22:11); Now Jesus tells us here in verse eleven that He that is unjust, let him be unjust still. And he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. Now this verse suggests that in eternity the unregenerate man will not experience a second change for a changed nature. Now God said; that once a person is condemned at the “Great White Throne Judgment, their soul will remain lost forever and they that have rejected Jesus Christ will be cast into the lake of fire for all eternity. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still. The time of fulfillment will come so suddenly that there will be but little time for repentance and amendment. What is done must be done instantly; and let him that is holy persevere, and hold fast to what he has received.

12) (Read) (Chapter 22:12); And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (KJV)

12) Explanation: (Chapter 22:12); And, behold, I come quickly. (This is not meant to portray the “time” of His Coming, but rather the suddenness of His Coming). Now whenever that Second Coming happen or takes place; then we as Believers should always be ready for Him because our Lord Jesus could come any time). And Jesus said that my reward is with me. (Now the word “reward” can either be positive or negative and God said that He bring his reward with Him). Here Jesus said that He would give every man according as his work shall be. (Now our “Faith”, however placed, will produce a certain type of works). We should always remember that only Faith in the Cross will be accepted when He comes).

12) Comments: (Chapter 22:12); Now our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that, He will come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. Now after the Rapture, all believers will face the judgment seat of Christ. Now Jesus will hold us accountable for the way we have served Him in this life. Then we shall enter into Heaven by Faith in Jesus Christ. Now our faithful service in this life is basis on how we will be rewarded by our Lord Jesus Christ for all eternity to come. Now Jesus said Behold, I come quickly. I come to establish my cause, and comfort and support my followers, and punish all the wicked.

13) (Read) (Chapter 22:13); I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (KJV)

13) Explanation: (Chapter 22:13); I am Alpha and Omega, (Now this presents the first letter in the Greek Alphabet which is “Alpha”, and the last letter in the Greek Alphabet is “Omega”. Now this is just another way of saying, “the first and the last,” which includes all that is in-between). The phrase here, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (Now this does not mean that Christ as God had a beginning, for God was always there and did not have a beginning). (Now we should always remember that “Jesus Christ is the beginning of all things,” and “He will be the end of all things).”

13) Comments: (Chapter 22:13); Now in verse thirteen the Lord Jesus Christ tells the Apostle John that He is “Alpha and Omega,  the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” Now in the book of Isaiah the Prophet tells us the same message, which says in verse four that; “Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning?” “I the Lord, the first, and with the last; I Am He.”

14) (Read) (Chapter 22:14); Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (KJV)

14) Explanation: (Chapter 22:14); Blessed are they; (Now this presents the seventh and last Beatitude in the Book of Revelation). That all do his commandments, (This should have been translated, “who washed their robes in the Blood of the Lamb”. Now the Greek Text used for the King James Version of the Bible was the “Textus Receptus”; and it is the Text that Erasmus, the famous Renaissance scholar, that was published in A.D. 1516. Now it was the first New Testament of the Greek Text that was ever published; since 1516. (Now the world of scholarship and Archaeology has discovered thousands of earlier Greek Texts; and by comparing these thousands of Manuscripts, the scholars can easily ascertain the original Text that the Apostle John wrote; that they may have right to the tree of life. (Now this proclaims the fact that this “right” can be attained in only one way, and that “by washing our robes in the Blood of the Lamb”). And they may enter in through the gates into the city. (Now this proclaims the Eternal abode of the Redeemed. And we shall enter that City by means of His Grace, and that is by the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ).

14) Comments: (Chapter 22:14); John writes that those are blessed who do God’s Commandments and they will have the right to the tree of life. Then they may enter through the gates of that New City, New Jerusalem. Now those who wash their robes are those who seek to purify themselves from a sinful way of life. They strive daily to remain faithful and ready for Jesus Christ’s return. It is difficult to imagine how the blood could make any cloth white, but the blood of Jesus Christ is the world’s greatest purifier because it removes the stain of sin. This white symbolizes sinless perfection or holiness, which can be given to people only by the death of the sinless Lamb of God on our behalf.

Now this is a picture of how we are saved through faith. (Isaiah 1:18); Read (Romans 3:21-26)

15) (Read) (Chapter 22:15); For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (KJV)

15) Explanation: (Chapter 22:15); For without are dogs, (Homosexual), and sorcerers, (Witchcraft), and whoremongers. Now this pertains to all types of immorality), and murderers. (This pertains not only to killing in cold blood, but as well murdering one’s reputation through idle gossip), and idolaters. (Now this to placing anything above God, or on a par with God. Now religion is the greatest idolatry of all), and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (Now this refers to anything that’s untrue).

15) Comments: (Chapter 22:15); Now in verse fifteen we are told about the different types of wickedness and sinful people that will not enter into Heaven. Now our Lord Jesus will exclude from the Holy City, everyone who loves and practices falsehood. Now these are people whose lives have gone so wrong that they resemble Satan himself. These people have deceived the whole world in (Revelation 12:9); (Revelation 13:13-15); (Revelation 16:14). Now they are hypocrites, trying to live one way while pretending to believe another way. They are like the “Nicolaitans” that are mentioned in (Revelation 2:15); who were among the believers but they compromising their faith in order to also be included for worshiping of the Roman Emperor. Now John records our Lord Jesus Christ’s statement, that Satan is the father of lies in (John 8:44). Now today we see leaders who twist the truth to serve their purposes. Many people have lost the ability to distinguish in what’s true from what they wish was true. Now dishonest people soon begin to believe the lies they construct around themselves. Then they lose the ability to tell the difference between the truth and lies. When you start believing your own lies, you only deceive yourself, and you alienate yourself from God. Now when you lose credibility in all your relationships and in the long run, your honesty wins out always.

16) (Read) (Chapter 22:16); I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (KJV)

16) Explanation: (Chapter 22:16); I Jesus! (Now this short phrase is found only here in the Scripture, but it emphasizing its importance; that “Jesus Christ” is closing out the Book of Revelation here. But most of all, Jesus is testifying to the truth of what has been given). And I have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. (Now the word “Angel” here means “Messenger,” and actually refers to the “Pastors” of the respective Churches in question, and for all time). I am the root and the offspring of David. (This is meant to project the Incarnation of Jesus Christ). Now Jesus is the bright and morning star. (Now this “Bright and Morning Star”, speaks of a New beginning that any person can have, and irrespective of their present condition, if they will only look to Jesus Christ and accept Him as their personal Savior and what He done for them on the Cross).

16) Comments: (Chapter 22:16); Jesus said that He has His Angel to testify to us that these things are true in the church. Now Jesus is both “David’s Root” and “Offspring”. He is the Creator of all. Now Jesus existed long before David. And as a human, Jesus was one of David’s direct descendants in (Isaiah 11:1-5); (Matthew 1:1-17). Now as the Messiah, He is the “Bright and Morning Star.” Now our Lord Jesus Christ is the light to the whole world and the light of Salvation to all.

16) Extra-Comments: I Jesus; the Maker, the Redeemer, and Judge of all men. I have sent mine Angel an especial messenger from heaven. I am the root and the offspring of David. Now Jesus Christ is the root of David as to his Divine nature; for from that all the human race sprang, for he is the Creator of all things, and without him was nothing made which is made. And he is the offspring of David as to his human nature; for that he took of the stock of David, becoming thereby heir to the Jewish throne, and the only heir which then existed. And it is remarkable that the whole regal family terminated in Christ: and as He liveth forever, he is the alone true David and everlasting King. Jesus is the bright and morning star. I am splendor and glory to my kingdom; as the morning star ushers in the sun, so shall I usher in the unclouded and eternal glories of the everlasting kingdom.

17) (Read) (Chapter 22:17);  And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.  And let him that heareth say, Come.  And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (KJV)

17) Explanation: (Chapter 22:17); And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. (Now this presents the cry of the Holy Spirit to a hurting, lost, and dying world. Now what the Holy Spirit says should also be said by all Believers). And let him that heareth say, Come. This means if one can “hear”, then one can “come”. And let him that is athirst come. (Now this speaks of a “spiritual thirst” and the “cry for God in the soul of man”). And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Now this opens the door to every single individual in this world; and I tell you truth that Jesus Christ died for all and, therefore, all can be saved, if they will only come to Him now, for Paul said that “today is the day of Salvation”.

17) Comments: (Chapter 22:17); Now in verse seventeen the “Spirit and the bride say, Come”. And let him that heareth say, Come.

And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Here both the Holy Spirit and the Bride, the Church, extend the invitation to all the world to come to Jesus Christ and experience the joys of Salvation in our Lord Jesus Christ and Savior. Now when Jesus met the Samaritan woman at the well, He told her of the living water that He could supply in (John 4:10-15). Now this image is used again as Jesus Christ invites anyone to come and drink of the water of life. Now the Gospel is unlimited to all people everywhere if they will repent of their sins and come to Jesus before it’s too late, because the end is near. Now salvation cannot be earned, but our God gives it freely. We live in a world that is desperately thirsty for this living water, and many are dying of thirst. But it’s still not too late, so as Christians, let us invite everyone to come and drink of this living water before the end of time comes to an end.

18) (Read) (Chapter 22:18); For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: (KJV)

18) Explanation: (Chapter 22:18); For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. (Now this proclaims the inerrancy of the Book of Revelation; in other words, the Apostle John testifies that it is the Word of God). If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. (Now this proclaims the fact that changing the meaning of the Prophecies in this Book can bring upon one the “Judgment of the Almighty God”);

18) Comments: (Chapter 22:18); Now in verse eighteen God tells us that if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.  This warning is given to those who might purposefully distort the message in this book of Revelation. Now John warns against anyone who deliberately “add to these things” (meaning the prophecy of this book), or “take away” any of its revealed truth. Now since the book of Revelation is the end of all Bible prophecy. Now we have no need for any additional prophecy but we need to study and teach the prophecies that have already been revealed to us in these scriptures.

19) (Read) (Chapter 22:19); And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (KJV)

19) Explanation: (Chapter 22:19); And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, (Now the idea is that the “words of the Prophecy” should not be changed in any form or manner, whether it would be by addition or deletion). God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (Now this is “a warning given to the Believers,” and we all should abide to God’s warnings here.

19) Comments: (Chapter 22:19); Now God said, that if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, that He will take away his part out of the book of life. Now this warning is giving to all of those who might have purposely changed the message in God’s Holy Bible. Now we can read that the prophet Moses had to give a similar warning in this chapter of the book of (Deuteronomy 4:1-4). Now all Christians must always handle the Holy Bible with care and great respect so that we do not distort its message. We should be quick to put the Bibles principles into practice in our own lives. Now we as Christians should always remember to tell truth and believe that God’s Word is never to be changed for it is settled once and for all in Heaven because of what Jesus Christ did on the Cross for all mankind. Now again we must remember that only Jesus died on the Cross and shed His precious blood for our sins.

20) (Read) (Chapter 22:20); He who testifieth these things saith, Surely, I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus. (KJV)

20) Explanation: (Chapter 22:20); He who testifieth these things saith, (Now this proclaims the fact that the office of the Messiah as Savior is repeated again and again throughout the Prophecy. He is the Lamb who was slain, and His Blood washes from sin, and that alone makes us fit for to enter into that Eternal City), Surely, I come quickly. (Now this leaves “the Promise to come”, as the “last Message” from the Lord Jesus Christ to the Believer’s hearts; and on this sweet note, the “Prophecy ends”). Amen. Even so, come Lord Jesus. (Now this proclaims the answer of the True Church to the Promise of Jesus Christ regarding the Second Coming).

20) Comments: (Chapter 22:20); Now we do not know the day or the hour, but we do know that Jesus is coming soon and quickly. Now this is good news to those who have trusted Christ our Lord and Savior. But it is a terrible message for those who have rejected Jesus Christ and will stand under His Judgment. Now the word soon means at any moment, and we must be ready for Him, and this means that we as Christians should always be prepared for His return. Now don’t let Jesus catch you off guard when He returns for His (Bride) the Church. Now remember the book of Revelation is a book of hope and it shows that no matter what happens on earth, our God is always in control. God promises that evil will not last forever and there are wonderful rewards waiting for all those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

21) (Read) (Chapter 22:21); The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen. (KJV)

21) Explanation: (Chapter 22:21); The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Now this presents the Apostle John using the very words of Paul in his closing benediction; Jesus Christ is the Source, but the Cross is the means. The phrase in verse twenty-one means to be with you all. Amen. (Now this proclaims the fact that it is the same Message for all, and it is available to all. Now the word “Amen” closes out the Book of Revelation, and the entire Canon of Scriptures, which took about 1,600 years to bring forth in its entirety. But it gives acclaim to “the Finished Work of Jesus Christ”. “It is done”. “And all of Heaven”. Along with all the Redeemed, must say “Amen).”

21) Comments: (Chapter 22:21); Now here John tells us in the book of Revelation that all human history comes to a closes just as the book of Genesis has opened it in paradise in the very beginning. But there is one difference in this book of Revelation. We can thank our God and our Savior Jesus Christ that all evil is gone forever. Now the book of Genesis describes Adam and Eve walking and talking with God; but Revelation describes people worshiping our God face to face. Now the book of Genesis describes a garden with an evil serpent; (the Devil) but the book of Revelation describes a perfect city with no more evil. Now always remember that the Garden of Eden was destroyed by sin. But now paradise is recreated in this New Jerusalem City by our Lord Jesus Christ for all born again Believers to reign with Him forever and ever.

A) Now as we come to the end of this chapter twenty-two in the book of Revelations. I would like to ask you a question about the condition of “you’re Soul”. If you were to die before this day comes to an end. Where would your Soul spend eternity at? Now this is probably the most important question in your life. Would you like to ask Jesus to save you now? If so just keep on reading and the next few verses will tell you how to be saved.

B) Now all you have to do is just sincerely pray a simple prayer like this one here. “Please God, I confess to you my sins and need Jesus in my life right now. I will turn away from my sins and place my Faith in your Son Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.”

C) Then you should share your Faith in Jesus Christ with other Christian friends or a pastor. Now by becoming a Christian, this is your first step on that long life’s road of a Spiritual growth and your service to sharing God.

D) The second step is to follow Jesus Christ in a believer’s baptism by immersion in water and joining a local church that teaches the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1) Remember what Jesus said to Thomas in (John 14:6) I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2) Neither is there Salvation in any other; for there is no other name under Heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) (And His name is Jesus)

“What Shall I Do To Inherit Eternal Life?”

We as Christians should remember that Salvation is simple, but it’s not cheap. It cost Jesus Christ everything so that salvation could be offered to us freely. God has provided salvation on a basis, which permits anyone who can make their own decision to have it. If salvation could be received on the basic of education, multitudes would be excluded. If eternal life could be had on the basis of wealth, a great number would still be left out. If being saved were dependent upon one’s moral perfection, everyone would fall short. God has made His salvation available on the basis of a personal faith which even a child can exercise. This way everyone is reduced to the same level in the eyes of God and all must come to him on the same terms (Romans 3:9-10) and (Galatians 3:22). Paul said, “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not, of yourselves; it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:8-9) Below you will find some scriptures in the book of Romans that can lead you through the Romans road to Heaven.

IV) Please take the time to read the questions and answers below and study God’s Word and may God bless you always.

1) Who is good? (Romans 3:10) As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one.

2) Who has sinned? (Romans 3:23) For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

3) Where did sin come from? (Romans 5:12) Wherefore, as by one-man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

4) God paid the price for sin. (Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

5) We all have a way out. (Romans 5:8) But God commended his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

6) What must I do to be saved? (Romans 10:9-11) That if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

A) The main reason or purpose of teaching this Book of Revelation in this simple lay-out form is to tell the Gospel and warn all people of their destination of their souls and hopefully help all people hear the Good News of Jesus whether they are saved or lost.

B) By studding God’s Holy Word we can have a better picture of Heaven and Hell. Also it is my prayer and hope that everyone can understand a little more about their new home in Heaven and of what God’s future plan that He has in store for them for all eternity.

C) The purpose of this Bible Study is to simplify the Book of Revelation so that the believers in our Lord Jesus Christ can understand what God’s future plans are for all mankind. Now some people just shake their heads and are scared to what the future holds for them. They say that they cannot read this book and understand anything that the Scriptures are saying to them. So I have tried to outline each of the verses with the help of the Holy Spirit so that anyone; whether you are a believer in Jesus Christ (Saved) or an unbeliever (lost) and don’t know who our Savior Jesus Christ is. It is my prayer and hopes that when you try to read and study the Book of Revelation that everyone will always keep an open-mind. Now remember that God loves you and this Book of Revelation is about your future and where everyone will spend the rest of their life. Now as a Christian I am concerned about your soul and where you will spend all eternity at.

D) So just remember that we all have two choices in this life and the first one is that you should realize that you are a sinner and on your way to a place called Hell because of your unbelief in Jesus and His finish Works on the Cross. The second choice is that then you call upon the name of Jesus Christ and ask Him to come into your life and save you. Then you are on your way to a place called Heaven because of what Jesus done for all mankind on the Cross. He paid the price by shedding His Precious Blood and dying there so that all mankind could go free.

E) Now this concludes our Bible Study on chapter twenty-two of the Book of Revelation. I hope this Bible Study lesson has been a blessing to everyone that has joined me in this great study of this last Book of Bible. Please be much in prayer for me as I try to teach the other books of the Bible.

F) Remember that time is running out for all of the people that does not know Jesus as their personal Savior. We that are Christians must work even harder to tell the true Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ so that all people will have the same opportunity to be saved and have a home in Heaven with God.

G) Remember: our Lord Jesus is coming back soon for His Bride the Church. We must be ready and always watching for our Lord Jesus and Savior because He promised that He would return for His people! So I say to all the unbelievers don’t put your soul or trust in anyone but the name of “JESUS CHRIST” because He alone went to the Cross and died for your sins and that’s what I call love and its real. So don’t believe the lies that the DEVIL will offer you at any time. They will only send you straight to HELL for all eternity and that is a place that will last forever and ever and that is his future home of hate and torment.

H) Remember that God made the place called Hell for the Satan and his falling angels. Our God does not want anyone to go to this place called Hell which is referred to as the “Lake of Fire”, in the bible. I ask you to please read these two scriptures in the book of John just before we close this great book of Revelation. Here our Lord Jesus tells us, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. In this next verse, Our God tells us that For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Now in verse 17 of the book of John; Here God tells us, that God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Now God said that he that believeth on him is not condemned; but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten “Son of God”. (John 3:15-18);

I) Here in John chapter 14, Jesus comforts his apostles and tells them that He would be coming back for them. Now here is what our Lord Jesus tells all of us that are “Born Again Believers. Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I, would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

J) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I AM, THERE YE MAY BE ALSO. And where I go ye know, and the way ye know. Then in verse 5, Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not where thou goest; and how can we know the way? I believe that verse 6 is one of my favored verses in the bible because our Lord Jesus said into him (Peter), I AM THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE; NO MAN COMETH UNTO THE FATHER, BUT BY ME. (John 14:1-6)

K) Now we have just finished the bible study about the book of Revelation and as Christians we must prepare to be ready to meet the Lord Jesus Christ at His return. Jesus did not say that He was “coming soon”, but He said I will come suddenly and that is why we as believers should be ready and live our life pure  just like our Lord and Savior until He returned for His Church.

What is God’s Future Plan for you when we get to Heaven?

a) I believe that we will praise God for his mighty works of the creation. Also we will sing hymns of praise to God for his mighty work of redemption in (Revelation 5:9). Now Heaven will also be a place of fellowship too. Also the saved believers will enjoy the blessing of other believers that are in Jesus Christ. We shall be known by our Savior Jesus Christ in a more intimate way than ever was possible here on earth.

b) I believe that when the Apostle John gave us the description of Heaven in the two chapters of Revelation 21 and 22 he must have been overwhelemed with great joy and delight. Just as Paul was when he gives us an insight into the magnificence of the city of New Jerusalem. Here is the scripture that the Apostle Paul has written in (I Corinthians 2:9); But as it is written: “Eyes has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him”.

c) Also the Apostle John describes the New Heaven and the new earth, for the first Heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I John, saw the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down out of Heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from Heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. Then God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.” And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be my son. But the, fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. (Revelation 21:1-8) This chapter 21 was my Mother’s favored part of the bible. Every time that I would go to visit her before she died, she would always ask me to read to her these scriptures.

And I can still heard her say, Frank can you read to me the part about Heaven and I always did up until she went home to be with our Lord Jesus. There are so many great things that we could say about this paradise called Heaven, but I guess we can all wait until we that are saved get there. Below is just few things that we as believers in Jesus Christ will enjoy as our reward when we see our Savior and Lord Jesus. But remember if you are not saved and don’t know Jesus as your personal savior. Then your home and reward will be with the Devil and his angels which is Hell, a place that will burn with fire and brimstone for all eternity and there is no second chance for anyone.

Now the things that this Shepherd will do for his sheep in Heaven are listed below.

First; Jesus will feed us that hidden Heavenly manna and also Christ will give us a new name in (Revelation 2:17).

Secondly; Jesus will lead us beside the living fountains of waters and Christ will dry all our tears in (Revelation 7:17).

Thirdly; Then Jesus will allow us to sit with Him on the Throne and finally our Lord Jesus Christ will dress us with His own righteousness in (Revelation 19:8).

Fourthly; Heaven will be a place of learning about our loving and merciful God.

In closing this last book of God’s Word we can rejoice in our hope in the Son of God which is Jesus Christ. The bible also tells us that we can rejoice when we face trials and problems and we will not be disappoint because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts. Remember as believers in Christ the end here is just the beginning with our Lord Jesus for all eternity with Him.

Note: Now this concludes our bible study on chapter twenty-two of the book of Revelation. Remember that everything on this web-site is free. Please pass them on to other people if they have helped you.
