Hosea is the twenty-eighth book of the bible. Hosea, whose name means “the Lord saves,” The first three chapters of the book of Hosea give an account of the prophet’s family troubles, which were intended to picture Israel’s sins and Jehovah’s love. The major truths of this book are: 1) God suffers when His people are unfaithful to Him; 2) God cannot condone sin; 3) God will never cease to love His own and consequently, He seeks to win back those who have forsaken Him. The book of Hosea can be divided into five parts: 1) The prophet’s tragic experience, 2) An indictment of Israel, 3) Retribution upon Israel, 4) God’s unceasing love for Israel, 5) The ultimate restoration of Israel.
