Questions about the Book of Malachi

Malachi is the thirtieth-nineth book of the Old Testament. Malachi whose name means, (my messenger,) which is probably an abbreviated form of the messenger of the Lord. Malachi is best known as the last book of the Old Testament. This book contains promises of the coming of the Messiah, or Messenger of the Covenant. He lived after the Temple had been rebuilt and the worship restored, but he found the people sinning in various ways, and his ministry was addressed to their consciences to turn them back to God. This book can be divided into six parts: 1) Israel pretends to be unaware of God’s love, 2) The priests deny despising the name of the Lord, 3) Israel’s sins against one another and against the family, 4) The coming of the forerunner, John the Baptist, 5) The two groups of Israel contrasted; Those withholding tithes; the faithful remnant, 6) The coming day of the Lord, and the return of Christ.
