Leviticus is the third book of the bible. The word Leviticus comes from Levite and from Levi, one of the twelve sons of Jacob and father of the priestly tribe of that name. This tribe had charge of the worship and of the teaching of the law. The book of Leviticus can be divided into seven parts: 1) The offerings, 2) the Consecration of Aaron and his sons, 3) the laws of cleanliness and holiness, 4) the day of Atonement, 5) the laws regulating the personal relationships of the redeemed people, 6) the laws regulating the priesthood and the seven great feasts of the Hebrew Calendar, 7) the additional laws, promises, and the warnings.
